Cambodia Appeal

Bruce Birchall one of our members has been involved with supporting Cambodian Rugby for the past decade. The Society have supported this venture and over the years Bruce along with the Society have provided over 2500 kg of equipment and clothing.

Since 2009 Bruce has also had an association – along with his Team of Refs – with Samrong Farm Orphanage outside Phnom Penh. They have been provided with about 80 kgs of much needed clothes each year.

The children work at a farm as well as attending full time education where all are taught English as a main core subject. They grow their own vegetables and rice [enough for 60% of the year] and have a small stock of cows, ducks, geese etc for sale. There are about 70 children in regular attendance, all being schooled and some go on to further education at Uni.

The orphanage’s main benefactor, a Dutch Charity has had to cut their grant by 30%. To help with the shortfall Bruce’s group last month was able to provide a $500 gift for rice purchase. His intention is to provide another $500 in October 2016 to assist in purchasing their staple diet.

Some of the projects they are working on is improving the girls bathroom and a project to get a mains water connection to the Orphanage instead of poor quality well water which can make the children sick and give skin problems.

Can you help him achieve this donation by providing a small gift to this very worthy cause.

The children are wonderful, happy, polite, respectful, kind and in need of help. The Principal, Dr Sam Vyrak, is an honorable and caring family man trying to make ends meet!

Bruce has a special Cambodia Account where people can donate. Please contact him for details (bm.birchall@btinternet.com)

Or send a cheque to Bruce Birchall 114 Fordel Road London SE6 1XR.

Bruce would also welcome any unwanted kit to donate to Cambodia rugby.
